Melissa and Doug Baby Building Blocks

My son absolutely loved to build towers and then turn around and knock them down when he was a baby. When he knocked the tower down he would laugh his head off, then he’d want me to help him build it again two seconds later. He started with baby building blocks when he was barely a year old, and kept going from there. Some of my favorites are the Melissa and Doug building blocks.

Melissa and Doug Soft Blocks are perfect for babies and young toddlers who are working on their building skills. Because they’re soft you don’t have to worry about babies falling on them and hurting themselves. The soft blocks are also large enough that they won’t pose a choking hazard.

Melissa and Doug Stacking and Nesting Blocks are some of my favorite first blocks for toddlers. They can be stacked up to build a tall tower, strung out along the ground, or nestled one inside the other for storage.

When they’re good at building towers they can graduate to Melissa and Doug wood blocks and start creating building masterpieces.

Whatever blocks you choose, double check to make sure they’re age appropriate for your child before you let them play.

The Princess and the Frog toys are going to be popular with little princesses this Christmas. The latest Disney princess movie premieres in theaters this Friday. I have to say I think the toys are beautiful, especially the Princess Tiana dolls.

Lego Video Game Guide

Lego Video Games are a kids favorite, and they’ll top many children’s wish lists this Christmas, so I thought I’d put together a Lego Video Games guide. Here are some of the most popular Lego video games.

Lego Rock Band just hit the stores November 3rd, and is available for the Wii, Nintendo DS, xBox360, and Playstation 3. Kids can personalize their own LEGO Rock Den, and decorate it to suit their own rock style.
My son’s favorites are the Lego Star Wars Video Games. I think we have the Lego Star Wars Complete Saga for the Nintendo DS, and for the Wii. It’s also available for Xbox360, and the Playstation3. LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga lets kids and their families to play through the events of all six Star Wars movies in one videogame for the first time ever. Players solve puzzles with creative thinking through the use of teamwork and unique building situations only possible in a LEGO galaxy far far away.

With Lego BatMan video games children can play as Batman, Robin or more than 12 dastardly villains, master special super hero moves, and create and drive the Batmobile, Batboat and the Batwing.

Lego Indiana Jones video games follows Dr. Jones escapades through the jungles of South America to the mountaintops of India. Kids and their families can build, battle and brawl their way through their favorite movie scenes, from Indy’s entanglements with snakes to his dashing boulder run.

It seems like I’m always looking for a last minute toy for a gift exchange, and my budget is usually under $20, so I thought I’d put together a list of great toy ideas you can buy for that price range. Most of these are on the hot toy list this year, so you can’t go wrong!

1. Klutz Invasion Of The Bristlebots is topping many hot toy lists this Christmas. I love the unique idea of the Bristlebots, they’re little toothbrush head robots that can spin, skitter, and bounce off the walls. The Bristlebots also come with a book of ideas games and activities for fun and entertainment.

2. Many of the Bakugan toys including most of the Bakugan Battle Packs, and make great toys for boys. They are definitely one of the hottest toys for boys right now.

3. For the little girls on your Christmas exchange list check out Barbie and the 3 Musketeers. Most of the dolls fall into the $10-20 price range, and would make a wonderful gift.

Hot Toys Christmas 2009: Rocky The Robot Truck

One toy that is topping many children’s Christmas wish lists this year is Matchbox Rocky the Robot Truck. He’s perfectly adorable, and have you seen him move? Check him out in action:

Rocky the Robot Truck talks to your child with over 100 phrases. He even interacts with kids telling jokes and snoring when he goes to sleep.

He’s built strong with durable plastic to withstand hauling heavy loads, and rough play.

Rocky has plenty of moves to show you. His smokestacks control much of his movement. If you tilt the lever back Rocky stands on his back four wheels. Pressing the red button on top of the smokestack several times switches Rocky into dancing mode, where he’ll shake his booty for you. Pushing the lever forward returns him to a normal truck position with all his wheels on the ground.

If my son was younger you can bet Rocky the Robot Truck would be topping his Christmas list this year.

Bakugan promises to top many kids Christmas wish lists this year, so I thought I’d put together a Bakugan game gift guide. There are several Bakugan games out there your kids can play, from Bakugan board games, to all out Bakugan Battle Brawls. Here are a few of my son’s Bakugan game favorites.

He of course loves to play the Bakugan DS Games whenever he gets the chance. His latest favorite is the new Bakugan Collector’s Edition with NAGA Collector Bakugan Ball, or the classic Bakugan Battle Brawlers which is also available for the Wii, Xbox 360, and Play Station.

If you’re looking for a more hands on Bakugan game there are several to choose from for battles and challenge play.

The Bakugan Bakubowl is a special arena where kids can engage in battle and even hold Bakugan tournaments with their friends. The arena has bumpers you can use as part of your game strategy. Each of the bumpers holds 6 of your favorite Bakugan and 6 playing cards.

Are you a board game fan? Try the Bakugan Brawl Board Game , where players get to combine the critical thinking required in chess with the battle action of Bakugan.

Or your Bakugan fan is just starting out they can play the classic Bakugan Attack Playing Card Game. That’s how my son got started. Once they get started they can add more Bakugan Cards to their collection for even more game action.
